Billy's Twisted Birthday Mix

My dear friend Billy had a birthday party recently and I prepared a mix especially for him.

Part of the humor and surprise is the end of the mix which is my interpretation of an inside joke between Billy and myself about what he used to do when learning to mix from vinyl. Poor guy had problems matching beats and so would cover up his train wreck with Yoko Ono screaming. Billy is also featured in one of his solo efforts... It was only fitting to use his work to recreate the train wreck ;-)

The last track of this set is my joke back to Billy and my techno interpretation of his old mixing style. You get the idea after probably the first minute, but the neverending train wreck goes on for about 10 minutes lol...

DJ Set - Hypnotic Smut - Full Moon Version

This DJ mixset has been one of my most requested to play at parties, and I realized it could be improved by doing a few things differently. The Full Moon Party Version released here is the version I have improved for our Full Moon Parties. The theme is predominantly electro, house, minimal house, and tech house. It has a great dance vibe, goes a little trancey and jazzy in a couple of spots, and expresses my twisted dance humor (see parental advisory). It contains a number of my remixes and mashups, and should get your booty shakin.

This two-part mix was prepared especially with my partner in mind, with with lots of his suggestions. It was played for Pride 2009 at the one of the local clubs.

There are quite a few mashups and remixes in this two-part (nearly 3 hour) set...

When trying to decide a good point for breaking the set into two parts, I decided to repeat the last track of the first half because I love how it blends into the track following.

Some recent changes

Hi folks, sorry to be absent for a while. It has been a rough year.

I'm discontinuing torrents because of poor internet service, but the mixes are still available as direct downloads.

IMEEM was purchased very recently by Myspace. IMEEM used to host all my audio previews, so I am trying out Soundcloud. In some ways, they are a better host, but also a more expensive one. For the time being, I will leave the old IMEEM preview links as supposedly all that will get regenerated when the merge with Myspace is complete, but we will see. I just don't want to mess up all the coding that was done to put those in there, or remove it, only to have to put it back. So, please accept my apologies for the messy appearance until the IMEEM issue gets settled down.

While I'll be updating this post (and creating a new one with the final version) I wanted to share this with you ASAP both to test Soundcloud here, and encourage some of you to assist with the feedback you can provide thru soundcloud about final cuts to bring this to CD length... I have my own ideas, especially in regard to cutting entire tracks and minding the key changes, but do want to hear from you during the process.

Here's my mix for the May 29, 2009 fundraiser one of our local foundations. The event was well attended and generated revenue to help clients. Some people never left the floor the whole evening. Stay tuned for DJ Ercole's part of the event. our VJ and lighting tech did a great job with lighting and digital video.

Here's my rework of Lykke Li's "Little Bit". It's part of an upcoming mixset but too nice not to share in advance.

This is based on the CSS remix, but I've extended it to a longer dance number, punched it up a bit, messed with some of the vocals, and thrown in some folk music from Nepal.

DJ Konabuzz presents: Disk 21 - Breathe (Live Play Date 08/30/2008)

This disk is primarily dance / electro / house / pop. There are some really fun tracks here, and hopefully the whole compilation holds together.

Yea, this is the last of the nightmare equalization disks to date. Sound quality is finally pretty good here but took some work. Future disks in the hopper (up to live play date 10/18/2008) haven't had the same difficulty as the past 3 or 4, but are primarily electro house and tech house, as I haven't been super pleased with some of the pop-based tracks coming out recently.

This set is predominantly Dance / Electro / House and should have some fun tracks for every dance music taste. The next few mixes are going to be more purely house music or electro/tech house.

I apologize for being slow with posts lately. I have about 6 weeks of mixes I've spun "live" since this that are waiting for posting, but have had things going on at home that took time away. Also, have been fighting some equalization problems with the source files that were muddying up the vocals, bass and affecting the overall quality of the mix. This is an issue with the next mix in the series and why it has taken me a while. Thank you for your patience.

This dj set is primarily electro -- electro house and some electro pop. I thought it was sort of an equal mix of light and dark, and a perfect title for this time of year. Hopefully there's a little something for everyone in this set.

Some of the tracks presented real problems bringing the vocals up out of the mix of synthesizers... I fought with it over several iterations; it's as good as I can get it... I think there are some great creations in the mix... hopefully you'll enjoy.

DJ Konabuzz presents: Disk 11, Bananazz.. (Live Play Date 06/07/2008)

This has mostly a Pop/Dance Vibe tho some trax have a hip hop, electro, alternative, or world music feeling. Most tracks are favorites of mine or my partners that we have been trying to figure out how to work into some mix, so instead of continuing to put it off, I took most of the bunch and threw them into the blender. Oh, there is also a track I remixed because every time it came on the radio (about once an hour) my whole household was rolling their eyes. Seems a certain badd puppy needed neutering to change the tune... he he, unfortunately we used helium for anesthesia ;-)

The disk title is inspired by both Gwen Stefani and Bananarama, though some of the other trax are also kinda goofy.

This compilation has lots of hard driving electro grooves, some from the house side of the fence, some from the pop side, but all enjoyable.

This compilation contains one of my mashups, and a fun remix I did specifically for my live audience (which inspired the name of the compilation).

There's a really good blend between tracks 7, 8, 9, and 10 - the kind of transitions that make mixing fun.. Hope you enjoy.

By now, you will realize I kinda like Rauhofer remixes, and I kinda like "M" so here's something that brings these two great artists together, as well as some others I think you will really enjoy.

The compilation title is a take-off from the first track, but turned into a reality as some of the plugins I used to mix my Dark Roast track conflicted with each other and after I "gave her what she wanted," the horrible buzzing began... it was not fun to fix due to the nature of the plugin conflict.

As usual, there's some good electro grooves here, some from the pop side of things, some from the house side, but all nice.

Dj Konabuzz presents Dance with Lance v3 Disk 7 - Sticky (Live Play Date 05/10/2008).

This disk has a nice mix of Peter Rauhofer and Klaas, as well as some of my own mashups and other house/electro selections. For this disk, I am trying something different for file locations. The high-quality mp3 files will now be available on torrent, and the CD quality .wav files which I used to host on torrent will now only be available through direct download. The one-file beatmixes for the whole set will still be available as a standard direct download (no change). I'm doing this because the torrents have been very popular, but with the .wav files, it is taking up a lot of storage and bandwidth on my end. If the change poses a huge problem, please let me know and maybe the computer faeries will help out ;-)

I've always been a fan of ABC's 20/20 and Barbara Walters' interviewing skills. One of my favorite episodes was when Barbara inquired of Anne Heche about her other "celestial" personality. With mixing software, it's finally possible to set the dialogue to music, which I hope I have done in a way that both makes you laugh and makes you want to move around. The Anne Heche / Barbara Walters track gets this set going, and it continues through some really excellent dance / electronica / craaazy house music which, of course, I've tinkered with a bit. So, What Else Is There?

I could tell you that my flashlight was like a sudden explosion, ah, ah ah ah, ah, ah ah ah... but other than making you scratch your head (or look into one of my other compilations) we might not get too far.

I have another compilation I've been working on for a couple months, but two of the mixes are tricky... a hint, one involves a Barbara Walters interview of a quirky celebrity; another a comedy skit, both set to music. Hopefully that will be worth the wait. - UPDATE the barbara walters interview had a pretty good beta test play, and will be finalized hopefully this week with some minor adjustments to two remixes on that disk..

Also up and coming, each compilation disk has singles in it that are significantly different from the originals due to my remixing, mashing, mangling, etc. While I'm working on the next compilation or two, I'm going to try to get together a collection of the DJ Konabuzz singles for you all to enjoy. Some are works of Madonna, Britney Spears, Goldfrapp, Peter Rauhofer, and so forth. There have been lots of improvements to my software since some of these were done... on my list someday are to remaster those most in need... DJ Konabuzz Presents: Dance With Lance Vol 3, Disk 1 - 02/14 - A Digital Valentine (Live Play Date 02/16/2008)

This compilation was inspired by DJ AJ Khan at myspace and though I loved his 2007 Retrospective DJ set, I wanted to make some changes by using some entirely different tracks, different remixes... what's that phrase, "copy from the best but make it your own?" Well, you get the idea. Just to be clear, I remixed everything myself and didn't use anything he created for this mix, just the inspiration. The result was quite popular at the Puna area Valentine's nude volleyball match / party where I got to spin, and I thought I'd share it with you all.

The individual files are all 320K bps, the single set file is the best quality I can manage but audibly different from the individual files...

DJ Konabuzz presents: Dance With Lance Vol 2, Disk 4, Under (Bath)House Arrest (Approximate Live Play Date 12/29/2007).

This is another compilation disk of beatmatched and blended tracks, with some fun twists. The title is a little tongue-in-cheek, supposed to remind you in various ways of that particular type of wet, wild, and steamy experience (or if you haven't, just the experience of trying to find love, or simply to get "lei'd"... grin....) I'm trying something different with this one. If you want the individual tracks, you can get them one by one and they are all 320K bps quality. If it is easier to just download the whole dj set, that is also available, but it usually works out to about 120-150kbps quality, due to storage limitations on the upload server. I'd welcome suggestions of alternate download locations that would let me give you all a higher quality mp3 file for the whole set as one file...

DJ Konabuzz Presents: Electroporn (approximate live play date 11/24/2007).

This compilation is a DJ set of beatmatched, blended tracks. To properly create the original disk, compile tracks using "disk at once" and "eliminate silence between tracks" if your cd burning software has these features. Some tracks are available for preview through the jukebox widget.

I hope soon post some of my earlier work, as well as some things I am currently working on.

Disks 1 and 2 of volume 2 are not for private release only. Individual remix tracks will be made available as time permits.
